1958 Cushman Eagle
The Cushman company started business in 1903 in Lincoln Nebraska. Initially it built the 4-stroke Husky engine that was used in farm, pumps, lawn service and boat motors. They started building scooters in 1936. The Eagle was built for 16 years and was very popular as it resembled a motorcycle with the exposed engine and top mounted gas tank as opposed to a the step-through design of a typical scooter. In 1962 OMC (outboard Marine Corporation bought Cushman. Scooter production ended in 1965 however some Eagles were sold as ’66 models. Cushman is currently owned by Textron and continues manufacturing factory, warehouse, golf, turf, commercial and custom vehicles.
