1956 Triumph TR6
Triumph Engineering Company was based in Coventry, England. They built their first motorcycle in 1902 and in 1906 they introduced a 3 bhp bike with magneto ignition. The forerunner to the TR6 was the 500 cc TR5 which was designed for rugged sporting events and easily adaptable to most forms of motorbike competition. The TR6 was introduced as an upgrade to the TR5 with a larger engine to provide the additional power and speed required for some events.
The TR6 engine is an overhead valve, high compression, vertical twin with two gear driven camshafts with dry sump lubrication, pressure fed big ends and valve gear. It also had a new alloy cylinder head. The exhaust pipe is an upswept two into one with silencer. The frame is a brazed cradle type with swing arm rear suspension.
