1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham
1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham
In late 1956, GM unveiled the all new and exclusive Cadillac Eldorado Brougham for 1957. Built as an ultra-luxurious offering, the Eldorado Brougham was at the time the most expensive production car in the world. At over $13,000. it cost twice as much as the next most expensive Cadillac model and was $4,000. more than the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud. Only 400 examples would be built in ’57 with another 304 built for the ’58 model year.
It shared few parts with any other Cadillac and had a unique body that was lower and narrower than the 60 Series of the same year. Immediately recognizable with its full stainless roof and suicide doors, it also featured first time quad headlights. The car came standard with just about every imaginable accessory and option for the era and some features that would be decades ahead of the times. It came standard with power options you would expect like windows, steering, locks, seats and brakes but also included a front power seat memory feature when opening/closing driver’s door, autronic eye for auto H/L dimming, electrically opening/closing trunk lid, dual heat system, transistorized radio and power antenna.
Additionally, each car came with a full vanity set including a magnetic tray in the glove box to hold stainless drinking cups, tissue holder, cigarette case and a compact case including comb, mirror, lipstick, coin holder, and powder. In the rear was a special compartment containing a small leather notebook with Cross pencil, beveled mirror and Arpège atomizer with Lanvin perfume. All still intact with the car along with manuals and records.
This car has not been disassembled for restoration. Rather, sympathetically maintained, rebuilt and renewed to bring it to the award winning condition it is in today. In fact, just last year the car won 1st in Class at the Hillsborough Concours D’Elegance. The freshened drive train has just over 52,000 miles on it and the 365ci V-8 with dual 4bbl carbs purrs like a kitten. Everything needing attention got it. The original leather hides have been re-dyed their original color and look great with the new carpet. Re-painted in the original Fairfield blue color, new trunk upholstery, restored dash board, restored chrome wheels and with much of the stainless trim and chrome restored, this car is nothing short of amazing. And it runs and drives as good as it looks.
Available for a discerning buyer is this exceptional opportunity to own automotive history.
