1965 Corvette Coupe
Many terms are thrown about the collector car arena describing a cars condition as it relates to the way a car came from the factory or was originally delivered. “Like new, in original condition, as delivered” all have different meanings to different people. To one, “in original condition” may mean it is an original car with factory paint, numbers matching motor and transmission, factory interior and so on. To another it may mean it is “like” the car originally came from the factory but has new paint, interior, fresh built motor just like a new car from the factory has.
“They’re only original once” is another term or phrase that is often used to describe an un-restored or unmolested car. The beautiful 1965 Corvette coupe in the mathews Collection can be described as such. Its factory paint shows some patina and maybe could use a paint job but certainly doesn’t need one. The original interior looks as if it’s a mere few months old. And the numbers matching drive runs strong.
This car is optioned with the L79 327c.i. small block delivering a hefty 350hp. The L79 is a great engine option as it gives only 15 fewer horse power than the solid lifter and higher maintenance L76. Power steering and power brakes along with a period correct aftermarket A/C make this a pleasure to drive.
